TripAdvisor Online Review submitted August 5, 2010 by “Beachgirl33405” from Edwards, Colorado:
I had an absolutley wonderful experience at this hotel. I was travelling alone to meet family in the area, so I was very wary of what I might find at the hotel. I had researched the area and read lots of reviews of this and other hotels. This hotel had pages of positve reviews and little negative. Also, the price was comparable based on other hotels, amenities, free-parking, location and service. I chose this hotel and I was not disappointed. From start to finish my weekend (July 23-26), was wonderful. I had a rental car so the free, easy parking was the first welcoming amenity. At check-in, I was greeted with smiling faces and an attitude of “whatever you need” to enjoy your stay, and a warm, choc-chip cookie which was amazingly good. My room was clean, quiet and beautiful. Sliding glass doors to a balcony overlooking the beach was such a welcome sight after a long day travelling. You can preselect amenities to be delivered to your room, and they were waiting for me, as I had requested. My sister joined me unexpectedly so I ordered a rollaway which was delivered right away..within minutes it was at my door with a smiling, helpful staff member. The room had a refrigerator and Wolfgang Puck coffee and coffe makers..the coffee was great..amazingly good for in- room hotel coffee. I also like that this hotel is a Green hotel..they recycle and have dividers in the wastebaskets to help you with recyclable and non-recyclable items. Trash bins around the hotel for recyclable items too. Another plus is hearing the surf while you sleep and first thing in the a.m. when you wake up. The location is the best right on the beach and the summer sunsets were amazing. The beach was absolutley lovely and again, a member of the staff was there to assist with getting me some beach towels…even though he was busy setting up for a wedding. That night I ordered a grouper sandwich which was ready with little waiting and was delicious.
Tikki Bar out by the pool had music which was beachy and fun and added just the right touch at sunset. All staff were helpful at all times even though the hotel was sold out and 2 weddings for the weekend. Warm, gracious, genuine service from start to finish. I drove around the neighborhood which was quaint and beachy but not too busy or crazy. Lots of restaurants nearby if you wanted to go, but the food and ambience of this hotel is hard to beat anywhere.
No workout room, no jacuzzi and slow elevators only negatives if you really are looking for a negative. However, the beach and swimming provide great exercise and relaxation and the slower elevators gave people time to chat with each other for a change. Besides, I would rather be walking the beach, bird and dolphin watching, admiring the beautiful sunsets and swimming than in a gym pushing weights any day! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone and I will hopefully, one day, get to go back! Thanks Trip Advisor for your service..I might never have gone to this hotel if weren’t for your site with guest reviews.

You can believe all the other reviews. My wife and 6yr old son stayed here from 7/11 thru 7/15 in a Oceanview room on the 6th fl. The view is awesome. The beach is clean, and every member of the Staff was sincerely helpful. The room was spotless as well as the rest of the Hotel. We ate breakfast there every morning (we booked the free breakfast promo) and everything tasted great, which was surprising for a Hotel restaurant. We rented the Chairs and Umbrella ($25 a day–pricey, but worth it) and it was just steps (37–I counted) to the Tiki bar and lobby. The water was warm and calm, but active enough to make my son happy. They also have underground parking, which was an unexpected pleasure, especially during Summer in Florida. We drove up and down from St Pete Beach to Clearwater Beach, and the entire length was beautiful. It is obvious that all the local communities (from residential homes to businesses) take pride in keeping everything clean and attractive. The west coast of Florida BLOWS away the East coast. Even all the people we encountered at Restaurants and Attractions were sincerely friendly and helpful. I am a pretty picky traveler, but I can honestly highly recommend this entire area as well as this hotel for a Beach vacation.

Doubletree Resort North Redington was best known for flexibility. You can pretty much form your own package for the reception. It was wonderful having a location right on the beach that was able to conform to our budget. Marie Molina was most helpful getting back quickly to emails and questions. The food was excellent, all of my guests enjoyed and complimented the quality in the buffet we chose. They made sure they fulfilled our needs 100%. They were professional, friendly and courteous. I recommend this location for brides who want a nice ceremony and reception right on the beach. We were at the beach for a week and visited the tiki bar before we left, they had a reception for another wedding on a Friday night. Seems like a lot of people do their ceremony and reception there. I found this gem accidentally, definitely satisfied my needs!

I would just like to thank the entire staff of the Doubletree for making our entire stay such a wonderful experience…from check in to check out!! I have already recommended the hotel to the committee doing the reunion for Gibbs Class of 1976.

The Doubletree made my wedding day a dream come true! For an out of state bride, Marie at the Doubletree saw my vision and made it happen. Everyone was so polite, the food was fantastic and the weather/beach was perfect. I don’t believe there is one thing that I would change about my wedding day. My husband and I plan on coming back next year for spring break! So, if you are a bride and you are thinking of having a destination wedding, do it…and have it at the Doubletree!

If you want to be right on the beach, this is the place. We loved the relaxed atmosphere of going from the beach to the pool to the cafe and back again. The staff was excellent considering the traffic through the public places. Sunsets were beautiful and the entire area feels secluded with no major food or shopping chains on the island. Enjoyed the breakfast and dinner options at Mangos and felt relaxed the entire time. The rooms were clean and comfortable even though this is an older building. The housekeeping staff was extra nice. We were above the pool and Tiki bar so it was noisy until closing each night but would choose the gulf view regardless.

Great Choice! This was our first stay at this hotel. The first thing we noticed was that you can park in a garage underneath which was wonderful. Every time we needed to use the car, it was nice and cool. The staff was so friendly throughout the entire hotel. Our room was overlooking the ocean. You are so close to the beach that we left the doors open and it seemed like we were sleeping right on the shore. It was so relaxing and peaceful. There were a few local restaurants within walking distance which were nice for breakfast. The whole area is very peaceful. We are certainly returning to this area instead of more populated areas in the future.

Planning a wedding from Iraq is difficult and the staff was so helpful and understanding. They made our wedding very special and more magical than I could have dreamt.

Thank-you, Thank-you and Thank-you. Everyone had the best time, food was excellent and your staff did an outstanding job. … Trust me – it was the best ever reception ranked by so many of our guests and I’m hoping they will all spread the news and you will get further bookings, I’m recommending you to everyone. Ed and I had a wonderful time.

We stayed at the Doubletree North Redington Beach over the weekend of Jan 23rd. We stayed for 3 nights. We were there for a wedding in St. Pete Beach. The property was on a very pretty stretch of white sand beach. The rooms were clean and recently updated/renovated. The staff went out of their way to be accommodating and friendly. During our stay, we utilized the Trolley that runs up and down Gulf Blvd. This made travel to the wedding that we attended very easy. Nobody had to worry about being a designated driver. It made things much more relaxed and enjoyable. The Doubletree has a trolley stop right out front of the hotel. The hotel has a wonderful tiki bar that we hung out at in the afternoons. It was a lovely and relaxing atmosphere. We did not have a chance to go to the hotel’s restaurant, but I heard that it was a very good place with great service. My husband and I talked about bringing our children back here one day. It is a great beachfront hotel that will not break the bank. Great for a family beach vacation. The staff prides itself on providing wonderful service, and it makes a big difference. During our stay, I noticed that all of the staff were wearing pins on their shirts that said, “10.” I asked the front desk attendant what this was all about and she told me that their manager likes only rating of 10. Anything else is a failure to the patron. She told me that they always shoot for providing level 10 service. I liked that.

You all did a fabulous job, thank you! We had a few ladies that needed some last minute items from the drug store. Your staff volunteered to go to the store and pick up these few items for them so they would not miss their meeting, and also printed everyone’s boarding passes. AWESOME service! It was a pleasure working with each of you.

“We had our wedding at the resort on 3/6/09. Marie the catering manager was wonderful the ENTIRE step of the way. Can’t say enough about her. When the hotel was a Hilton my husband and I spent our first valentines weekend here so naturally we loved it when we looked at the event space. The hotel owners have done so much work on it. Upgrading everywhere you look. All rooms have been renovated, super nice, nice new carpet, bathrooms and nice linen. The outside deck area is awesome, the beach is small but nice. Great little beach bar, nice place to enjoy a drink and some food. Mangos is great, I never ate there but wedding day and day after I got room service and it was excellent!”

“My daughter had a lovely wedding at the Doubletree Hotel in North Redington Beach, FL. It was everything we expected and more. I have Marie Molina, the coordinator of the wedding, to thank for such a beautifully executed wedding. She was extremely helpful and accommodating in the most professional way from the beginning of our planning (Dec. 2008) to the wedding day (July 2009). The events of the wedding day surpassed all of my expectations. Marie was there from the beginning to the end of the wedding events to make sure things ran smoothly. All the guests at the wedding/reception shared how lovely and relaxed it was. Many guests expressed that this was the best wedding they had been to (a beach wedding). Your staff was also very accommodating to our family and friends needs during the overnight stay at your lovely hotel. I would truly recommend your facilities and Marie Molina’s expertise to anyone having a Florida beach wedding. It was truly a wonderful experience all around. You have a valuable employee (Marie) at this hotel in making wedding dreams come true. We owe it all to her for the success and memorable event that we will cherish forever. No regrets. I would do it exactly the same if I had to do it all over. Thank you for a lovely, first class wedding. ”

“The first two days I had my 5 year old with me and it was a lot of fun for families and for young children. After he left I had a friend come out and stay with me and it was a great time for adults as well! The staff was great, the location was amazing, the sunsets were breathtaking…I honestly have NOTHING bad to say about this place except that I had to check out and go home!”

“Wow…this hotel and staff completely amazed my boyfriend and I. We stayed for four nights and you couldn’t ask for a better location. It sits right on the gulf! The Mangos Restaurant has a lot of great food choices – we got to dine in on Mexican buffet night and the following morning was the Sunday buffet breakfast! The staff was helpful in so many ways – we were the curious tourists asking every kind of question and they provided answers to all of them. The hotel is very close to nice attractions such as John’s Pass Village, Suncoast Bird Sanctuary, Fort DeSoto, Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant. We got to snorkel everywhere including right behind our hotel! Overall WONDERFUL trip – you will love it!”

“Awesome hotel, employees, food and accommodations. We had to change hotels at the last desperate minute and they had us in the next morning at 11am with warm cookies, a gulf view and the most heartfelt welcome possible. Every staff member we encountered had a smile on their face and ready to give us the best service possible. The food was great, make sure you try the sweet potato chips and salsa. The rooms were clean, had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. The beach was clean and beautiful.”

“One of the best places to stay on Redington Beach. Just step off the property and you’re on the beach. Clean white sandy beaches. Rent beach cabana for $25.00 a day. You can go to Walmart and buy your own chairs and umbrella, but then you don’t get the service of Kevin…he tags your spot daily and checks on you throughout the day. He does a Great Job…plenty of stores and good restaurants close by for all your needs. Hotel food is very good and not pricey. Excellent Staff. Very friendly. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Free parking.”

“Stayed here for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our beach vacation at this Doubletree. We had gulf view room which gave a beautiful view of the beach and overlooked the Tiki Bar…We reserved the beach bonanza special which included a daily cabana rental and breakfast for two in their restaurant, Mangos. The room and beds are comfortable and as others have said nothing out of the ordinary…All the staff were friendly and helpful. We were lucky with beautiful weather (in the upper 80’s and low 90’s) and I would definitely return to this hotel.”

“Awesome place to unwind. Can’t wait to go back! My husband went to the area for business and booked at this hotel, so I tagged along. Boy was I glad I did! The hotel was fabulous and the location is perfect. During the week there were many business people so things were quiet. By the weekend the place was packed (a wedding was held on Saturday night right on the beach!) so things got a lot more lively. The staff seemed to do a great job accommodating the needs of everyone. The pool area was pretty crowded and there were a lot of families with older and younger children, but we never had a problem finding a place to sit…the ocean water was warm and inviting, no rough surf to worry about. We walked every morning on the beach and checked out the area…loved the free warm chocolate chip cookies from the front desk. And the hostess in the hotel dining area was great, as well as the rest of the wait staff. Breakfast overlooking the ocean each morning, what could be better? Our room overlooked the parking lot but there was still a water view from the inlet a few streets over. With the balcony we were able to be outside in the afternoon but get out of the hot sun for a bit. I suggest bringing LOTS of sunscreen, the sun was very strong even for April.”

“My girlfriend and I stayed for a week at the Redington Beach Doubletree. We absolutely loved it. She had been several times with her family and had never been disappointed with her experience. The service was excellent, the staff was extremely friendly, and you can not beat the outstanding views and comfort of staying right on the beach. The Tiki Bar and deck gives you plenty of space to lounge on a hot sunny day, and you will also have some live entertainment on Fri/Sat/Sunday with a guitar player who covers some summery classics. I would come back to the Doubletree again and again, and I would recommend this as a great place to stay for any of my friends…You simply can’t beat the friendly service, the pool, the decks, or the beach access to the wonderful gulf shores. For the price, this place is worth every cent!!”
